Version 1.6 marks the biggest upgrade to CalAction since its release in March, adding additional ways of ingesting and managing events in your calendar. Of course, in the meantime some bugs have been squashed and some rough edges have been fixed, but this release adds some, I think, meaningful features.
Photo and text recognition
CalAction can now use on-device AI through Apple Intelligence and its Foundation Model to recognize and ingest events from photos and text. Point your camera at a flyer, poster or invite and CalAction will extract the event details for you in seconds. You can now also paste text about an event ("Lunch with my parents on June 13 at 1PM") and CalAction will seamlessly create an event.
This is an entirely AI-driven feature, but rest assured that none of your data is shared with third parties and will never leave your device.
Easier event editing
While importing events, it's now possible to edit each event so you can quickly correct the title, date, location and more before doing the actual import. You can now also edit events that were already imported right from CalAction.
Refinements
CalAction now includes an updated home screen to make onboarding even easier. And every single screen in the app has been reworked to feel more native and at home on iOS 26 and beyond.
You can download CalAction 1.6 from the App Store. If you enjoy the app, I would really like it if you could spare a minute to leave a review. This helps other people discover the app.
